Florida day 6

First off congrats to Jason. He had to leave to go with his wife to find out if his new baby will be a boy or girl, and he is having another baby boy.

Yesterday we road about 3.5 hours and it was alot of fun. We had Elliott, myself, Wes, Bryan, Phil, Terry, Jeff, and Gene R. Bryan and I duked it out over the climbs. Going up one of the many hills me and Gene took a strong pull nothing killer I thought then I turned to him "Dude no one is talking behind us." We thought it was because everyone was just huffing and puffing to keep up. We dropped down the other side pretty fast and shot through this round about and then pulled off to realize that the only one who hung was Bryan. We rolled a fast pace after that and ended up hiding in the bushes to joke around with the other guys and roll up behind them. Once we caught Wes and Terry from behind we waited up for Jeff, Elliott, and Phil. Then as one big group we rolled to Winter Garden this awesome little town with like three coffee shops and two bike shops all on the quarter mile long main street. We sat around the huge water fountin in the center
of town drinking coffee and messing around. It really was an awesome ride.

Today (day7) were leaving around two after we get in about three hours of easy riding. As I lay here packing my bags I have to say this goes up there as one of the most fun weeks of my life. I can't really think of a better way to live then riding my bike for a living and just getting to ride with 19 other guys every day. Cycling is pretty cool.

Florida day 5....

Another awesome day. Today was hot as anything. Wes, Bryan, Jason, and I got in another 2.5 hard hours. We road sugarloaf twice along with doing a little with the main group of riders before and after breaking off to do our own thing. Bryan road strong and crushed our small group up sugarloaf both times. I felt good and managed to stay up it with him until about 3/4 of the way up. I'm feeling pretty strong right now and I feel like I have alot of room for growing. Tomorrows ride will be fun we plan on getting in a few more hard hours in a small group. Hope everyone at home is riding in the sweeeet weather up there. I can't wait to get home cause the first race of the season is right around the corner.

Florida day ????.....

Sorry guys and gals for the late post. Today was our rest day and we ended up just spining down the bike path to this cool little bakery. All in all we road about 2.5 hours. I plan on taking more pictures today. On our ride. It's looking like a hilly 4 hours.

I forgot to add...

I promised Gener that I would tell everyone about how, even though there ugly, his big white Rudy Projects sunglasses get the job done. They keep the wind, sweat, and anything else out of your eyes.
When we got back from the ice cream shop about a hour ago I got to see my first armadillo. Pretty freaking cool. I never understood how fast those things are.

Florida day 3.....

First let me say sorry to everyone about the errors in spelling and grammar in my blog. I do most of my blogging from a cell phone and I don't have spell check. I try people I try. I will happily email any of my blog postings to anyone for proofreading before I post just send me your email address.
Moving on.
Today we got in another great ride. I decided to hop in the car with Rob Frank and drive to the lake instead of riding down the road from hell. We drove out to the lake and spun around for about 40 min before meeting up with the rest of the group and really getting into the good stuff. I felt pretty good today and I tossed in an attack or two and ended up making a seven man break. Bryan, Keith, Gener, Wes, Rob G, GeneO and myself all got a good gap up the road and were rolling ok until the pace line fell apart. After that me GeneO and Wes rolled easy to the store. After that my ride was pretty uneventful. I had a nice chat with Bryan about how to get into vets school and about how he did in college. We rolled back to the lake and I hopped back into the car where Rob Frank and very nicely waited up for me before driving home. When we got home I made some early dinner and when Gener came home from finishing his ride then we went to Wes and Bryans
and I heard all about the end of the ride while me and Gener chilled in the insanely hot hot tub. All in all I got in about 2.5 hours today way harder then I had been riding earlier in the week. Tomorrow is a well earned and much needed rest day. I think me and a couple guys will roll easy up to a coffee shop and just chill for the day. I can't wait. Keep reading and I'll keep updating.

Florida day 2.....

Today we had a long day and road a little under 5 and a half hours. We got to ride with all the North Carolina guys today as well. They got in yesterday and, got a house by the lake that we use as the center of all of our rides. We road about a hour out to the lake, and on the way met with the NC guys. After that, we went and did a loop around Sugarloaf mountain the highest "peak" in Florida. It's about 200-400 feet above see level not much of a peak. Once we finished that we went on to drop off a few other guys and then went on another loop near some orange tree nusaries. I have to admit it's was a pretty tough day. We had some great pizza for dinner after, some of us got in the hot tub. Now it's time for my compression tights, lots of water, some more food, and some well earned rest. Tomorrow is going to be a longggggggg day.

Florida day one.....
After a long car ride with Big Mike and his wife Sally we finally got here. We road about 72 miles today, 3hours and 40min. Ride was just as beautiful as I remember from last year. Wes, Keith, and Bryan did some damage toward the end and ended up waiting up for me, Jason, and Jeff then waiting a bit more for big mike who toughed it out like a champ! A hard first day.
On another note, I got honor roll (all As and Bs on my semester report card!! I am super stoked for that.
I'm laying on the floor right now and were all getting ready to go get dinner. I'll post a picture and write more later.

Training...

I've been putting in some serious time on the bike. Nothing much else to report. I'm leaving for Florida this Friday and I will try and take up the role Bender had last year, and I will post daily once I'm down there with photos. I know my parents will like this since I am known for not calling when I'm away. Even when I went to Japan the only real communication we had between them and I was a few e-mails asking for more spending money (sorry mom and pop). Keep checking in and post some comments if your liking the blog, I'll try and improve my writing skills (I.e. Use of commas, spelling, sentance structure, etc.). The semester ended in my school and with that I get 3 new corses and a good chance to meet some new people. In my new marketing class we managed to meet everyone in the class, have a firedrill, and a guest speaker all in one class period. Aced my art final hoping to get that drawing back so I can post it up.

Comment, comment, comment.

Best ride EVER....

I road with the team at the conte's ride today it was really fun. I ended up riding about 50 miles and I shattered ALL of my previous peak power records and I didn't even go 90%. I'm really happy with my training. Looks like weather is going to be pretty bad next week not to happy about hitting the trainer. I can't even describe how sweet it's gonna be to go to Florida this year with the Atlantic Velo, Seigler, and the Le Blue guys. Jimmy D. is going down next week and he said he is just as stoked for the summer-like sun and temps. Mid-terms are next week and that shouldn't be to bad. I feel very prepared for all my exams and I either get out at 9:20 or 11:25 all week so I will try and plan my rides around the weather. Napping has ben causing me to stay up a little later the normal sadly. I took some pics on the ride today and I will post later.

Race report from Saturday

Saturday's race was AWESOME Zach and I braved the cold to some good finishes. No one else signed up for the Jr race and instead of paying out 20 bucks a pop to race each other. He did the C race and I did the B race for the first time. Zach got the hole shot and was never less then 3rd spot. After what I have heard was some slipping in a frozen/mud covered corner not far from the finish the leader gaped him and one other and went on to finish by himself while the other racer in his group of 3 nipped him in the sprint and Zach finished a great 3rd. I had a bad first lap. Someone ran into me and I had to hop off my bike a couple of different times to fix my derailleur. But despite coming out of the first lap last I chased and caught many people and got 4Th. It was FREEZING around 20 degrees. Props to T. for winning.

Long Time No Talk....

Sorry for the lack of post my life's been a bit all over the place in the past few months. As TKarnes would say settle in for a long one.
I think when we had last left off Barack Obama had been elected president. Since then in my life we have expanded the Seigler Sports Jr Team. The new editions are Mark Edwards and Zach Kyler.Pic taken at last years VA state crit Mark E. in front and Zach K. in the black sitting 3rd.

I have to say with the new editions to the team were looking good for next year. Also joining on as a mentor to the team and will be racing with the Seigler Sports Masters squad is Gene Rutledge. The last person we have added into our growing family is Mickala Rosen a now 11 year old who some of you might have seen racing for fat frogs. Her father, Chris, is a known TT ace around the VB area. I think we are meeting our mission of helping to expand and teach local Jr racers and I know were gonna have a great season and only build on the successes we had last year.First cross race

I've now competed in three cross races with mixed results. My first race I hate to say wasn't my best showing ever but it was a great race to start with because I don't think conditions could get much worse then the mud fest we had at the Trashmore Cross. I finished last in the Jr's and didn't make it very far in the men's Cs sadly I was just feeling terrible. A week later I went with Elliott and Uncle Keith down to NC for some good ol' fashion cross fun. We helped set up the coarse on Saturday road around for a bit then went and hung out with the Shield Twins (teammates of Keith) at there house who they are nice enough to let many many cyclist use all season long. The Shield's are cross fanatics we watched the Jr World Cross race from a few years back when Carrie (the twins father) went to go watch, we ate till we were full, played ping-pong, and just got to goof around with some very nice cross crazed cyclist. The race was Sunday and I had better luck this time after having getting some pointers from John Hamblen, Carrie, and the girls. I finished mid-pack this time while Elliott got 2Nd, kids pretty good at cross. Today was the last cross race before my road season picks up and after having to figure out my license situation I ended up having to race the B's but, it was no big deal. I ended up 4Th after getting stuck behind Tkarnes after he slid out and someone smashed there bike into the back of me and I had to get off my bike and fix my derailleur a few times. I'm happy with this result. I really think my training is working really well.NC Cross

I'll have much more time to train now because I quit my job at the TJ due to lack of sleep. Waking up at 6 after working till 10 or 11 doesn't work when you have to train for three hours that day. Mid terms are coming up then it's the highlight of my winter, a week in sunny Florida with all the SR, Atlantic Velo, and a few other jokers A.K.A. Wes Seigler himself.

I made this blog one of my new years resolutions so lets hope I can follow through.
